Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality and Akrê Municipality of Kurdistan Regional Government organized a cultural and art program under name "Historical Amed Hugs Beautifull Akrê".
Photos of artist Semîr Akreyî which were about natural and historical beauty of Akrê, have been exhibiting at Exhibition Hall of the Municipality of Metropolitan in the cultural program. Then, introducing a documentary film was shown in the Theater Hall.
Amed is Akrê, Akrê is Amed
Mayor of Diyarbakir metropolitan Municipality Osman baydemir said he has been Akrê on 19 March 2008 still a piece of his heart is in Akrê. Baydemir, "But the day will come when these restrictions will also disappear, and our hearts will meet again with the people of Akrê", said.
Baydemir said borders disappearance in EU, also in Middle East countries borders must disappearance and cultural acts will limits mean of borders. Baydemir said, "Toogether we have seen photos of the exhibition. We watched a documentary and saw once again that we are children of the same story while listening to dengbêjs. If you ask me, 'Amed is Akrê and Akrê is Amed."
Mayor of Akrê Municipality Kamiran Qasim gave a speech about history, cultur and faiths and said "As in Turkey, in Saddam age, Kurdish was banned in Akrê untill 1991." Writer Azad Dartaş also talked about value of cultural acts and said "These two cities can be exaples with cultural acts."
After speechs, dengbêjs from Akrê Mihemed Taha Akreyî, Şakir Mihemed Emîn and Ehmed Zêbarî singed historical and than poets Mistefa Selim, Heval Findî, Elind Akreyî and Şihab Yasîn offered poems.
